How Weed Won The West - A Review

How Weed Won The West is a new anti-prohibition movie from Sacred Cow Productions.

This film definitely opens anyone's eyes pertaining to the injurious financial, social and human problems created by outright marijuana prohibition. This film is a must-see as it destined to become an anthem for the marijuana anti-prohibition movement. It tells real life stories involving the relatively new California legal marijuana industry, and it problems. This film also critiques the “big pharma” pharmaceutical approach, and the problems caused by the drugs companies. It not only focuses strictly on the medicinal value of marijuana, but the responsible consumption of marijuana for personal recreation and mood enhancement as well. With healthcare being such a hot button issue lately, maybe cheaper alternatives for medicine and a revenue generator that weed can be, should be considered. student loans, public schools and local infrastructure could all benefit, maybe a “pot tax” could even lead to lower taxes. (Don’t hold your breath though) Not to mention patients with breast cancer, cerebral palsy, AIDS and other sever illness report a generally better quality of life, who really cares what anyone else says.

While the movie is entertaining, it is also informative, the subject matter and the production value of this film give it a somber and yet hopeful position. This film will be an instant classic in documentary film history.

This film is a rally cry for ALL Americans to stop the counterproductive and corrupt drug war. At the very least drug treatment has been shown more effective than an outright ban. Obama had promised that Marijuana and its prohibition would be reexamined, but instead he and Attorney General Eric Holder released a memo that said, in part:

“The Department of Justice is committed to the enforcement of the Controlled Substances Act in all States. Congress has determined that marijuana is a dangerous drug, and the illegal distribution and sale of marijuana is a serious crime and provides a significant source of revenue to large-scale criminal enterprises, gangs, and cartels. One timely example underscores the importance of our efforts to prosecute significant marijuana traffickers: marijuana distribution in the United States remains the single largest source of revenue for the Mexican cartels.”

This film helps dispel these myths and other scare tactics used by the government. Even if marijuana is “not your thing” prohibition is just bad for all of us, but this movie is a great. But as LeVar Burton used to say on Reading Rainbow: “You don’t have to take MY word for it!”

No really that’s a hint…. go watch it now….pothead…geesh.
